| President's Message |
|
 |
| Safety |
| Safety is everyone's responsibility.
The club has an excellent record because of everyone's effort and the
way the club instructors and divemasters insist that all safety policies
are enforced. The club's Safe Operating Procedures are available
in hard copy at the pool and are posted on the download page. |
| Interclub
Liaisons |
| I am continuing my efforts to have a reciprocal
arrangement with other scuba clubs within the Canadian Forces. I
envision links and privileges with clubs form coast to coast. So
far, I have talked to clubs in Comox, BC, Trenton, Kingston and the east
coast. |
| Club Executive and staff |
| The club has some excellent people volunteering
their time and putting considerable effort to support club
activities. I would like to thank them on behalf of the
membership. If you would like to help, the club staff would appreciate
you effort. |
| Charters and Courses |
| Turnout to club charters is growing.
this means that the club will organize more in the fall and next
year. Attend club meetings to make suggestions and to keep
informed.
The club has the ability to teach just about any
specialty you can think of. If you are interested in Nitrox, Ice
Diving, Advanced, Rescue or any other specialty let us know.
|
| Volunteers |
| The club depends on volunteers to
operate. We need to constantly recognize and reward the efforts of
those who support the club. The club will initiate a club benefit
program as an additional way of thanking the members that support
us.
|
| Leadership |
| The club needs to provide training to
advance the interested members into the leadership areas of the
sport. The club needs to build a team of divemasters and
instructors for the future. In addition, training new divers is
the life blood of the club and all certified divers in the club are role
models for new members. Promoting safety and professionalism is
everyone's job. |
| The Future |
| Some 46 years ago when the club was formed,
it was a leader in promoting scuba diving as a sport. The club has
a rich history of innovation and community service. Now that scuba
diving is one of the fastest growing sports and has become common place
throughout the world, there is still a need for the club to be a
leader. In addition to more technical aspects,
low impact
diving,
promoting safety and preservation of history are areas where the club
should lead the way. |
